Who We Are

By God’s grace, Grace Baptist Church of Lompoc exists for the glory and honor of God, for the edification and blessing of His redeemed people, and as a witness to the lost through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We seek to do this by faithful preaching, fervent prayer, biblical praise, ministry and evangelism.

As far as preaching we are committed to the the verse-by-verses exposition and proclamation of the entire Scriptures. On Sundays we are preaching through three different books of the Bible. One book of the Bible during the 9 AM family Sunday School hour. Another book in the main worship service at 10:30 am. And a third book during our 6 PM evening worship service. Our Tuesday evening men’s and women’s discipleship classes (which meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 6:30 have covered a wide variety of biblical/theological themes including systematic theology and presently evangelism.

As Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:16-4:5,
”All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; 17 so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. 4:1 I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: 2 preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. 3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, 4 and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. 5 But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

As far as prayer we bathe all our services in prayer, we meet for a special time of corporate prayer at 5 pm every Sunday evening right before the evening worship service.
As we are instructed in 1 Timothy 2:8, “Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.”

Yes, for the Christian, all of life is to be worship, for the honor of God. In our times of praise we seek for the lyrics to be thoroughly biblical and the music God honoring., seeking to avoid meaningless repetition Our current hymnal is “Hymns of Grace”, although we sing other sons outside that hymnal as well.

As it says in Psalm 149:1, “Praise YHWH! Sing to YHWH a new song, And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones.”

As far as ministry, not only is every believed gifted by the Holy Spirit for the work of ministry, but we teach encourage members to serve the body of Christ as God has so gifted them. As the scriptures say in Ephesians 4:11, “And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ;”

We truly enjoy our fellowship as a body often speaking of the things of the Lord after our many church services and meetings. On the first Sunday of every month, on Wednesday evenings and on other special occasions we gather for a meal, for time in the word and to enjoy our fellowship in the faith.

In all things we seek to make good and right use of all of God’s gracious means for worship as a congregation (the Spirit, the Scriptures, prayer, church fellowship, biblical praise, the Lord’s Supper, baptism, etc.).

We also long to be used of the Lord to reach the lost in prayerful evangelism, both from the pulpit and in our community.

Finally, we would encourage you to review our doctrine to see what we believe. What We Believe
